Clinical registration

The Academy maintains two international clinical registers: the Register of Clinical Art & Play Therapists (ClinAPTs)™ and the Register of Clinical Art & Play Therapy Supervisors (ClinAPT-S)™.

Becoming a registered ClinAPT™ and ClinAPT-S™ is an indicator of the high-quality training you have completed with the Academy and your continuous commitment to professional development in clinical art and play therapy practice and leadership.

International Register of Clinical Play Therapists™ and the International Register of Clinical Play Therapy Supervisors™

Becoming a Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapist (ClinAPT)™

Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapist (ClinAPT)™ is a qualified counsellor, mental health/clinical social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist, or psychiatrist who has gained specialist skills and knowledge in applying and evaluating a range of clinical art and play therapy approaches in their counselling practice. To be eligible to become a ClinAPT™ with the Academy, you will be required to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Art & Play Therapy course.

The aim of the Academy’s Register of Clinical Art & Play Therapists (ClinAPTs)™ is to develop and maintain international standards for the proficient practice of clinical art and play therapy and assist clients, colleagues, referrers, employers, and members of the public to identify and recognise counselling clinicians who have achieved and continue to maintain a high standard of professional proficiency in clinical art and play therapy practice.

To maintain your registration as a ClinAPT™ with the Academy, you are required to agree to uphold the Academy’s Professional Code of Conduct for Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapists (ClinAPTs)™ and complete relevant annual CPD activities. 

When you become a ClinAPT™ with the Academy, you receive a certificate of registration which can be framed and displayed in your workspace. You will  also receive the Academy’s digital registration badge which is an excellent tool for promoting your achievements. It displays your unique registration number as well as the Academy’s legally protected trademark which allows you as a ClinAPT™ to distinguish yourself to clients, colleagues, referrers, employers, and members of the public to identify and recognise the level of competency you have achieved and how you continue to maintain a high standard of professional proficiency in clinical art and play therapy practice.

International Register of Clinical Play Therapists™ and the

Becoming a Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapy Supervisor (ClinAPT-S)

Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapy Supervisor (ClinAPT-S)™ is a qualified counsellor, mental health/clinical social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist, or psychiatrist who has gained specialist skills and knowledge in clinical art and play therapy supervision. To be eligible to become a ClinAPT-S™ with the Academy, you are required to complete the masterclass supervision elective subject MCE401 Clinical art and play therapy supervision and have been a Registered Clinical Art & Play Therapist (ClinAPT)™ for a minimum of 3 years.

The aim of the Academy’s Register of Clinical Art & Play Therapy Supervisors (ClinAPT-S)™ is to develop and maintain international standards for the proficient practice of clinical art and play therapy supervision and assist those seeking clinical art and play therapy supervision to recognise supervisors who have achieved and continue to maintain professional proficiency in clinical art and play therapy supervision.
