
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
The Academy of Art & Play Therapy is an Australian nationally Registered Training Organisation (RTO) registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). ASQA is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector and regulates courses and training providers to ensure nationally approved quality standards are met (refer to the ASQA website for more details).
The Academy's Vocational Graduate Diploma of Art & Play Applications in Therapy is an officially accredited course and listed as a nationally recognised qualification (for more information on the accredited course see Nationally Accredited Training).
The Academy was founded in 2007 by psychologist Rosa Bologna and began offering its accredited training in 2009. The Academy is a Sydney-based training organisation established to deliver the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Art & Play Applications in Therapy course as well as maintain and regulate the Australian Register of Art & Play Clinicians™ (for more information about Registered Art & Play Clinicians see services).
The Academy offers high quality training and supervision in a number of different art therapy and play therapy approaches and models of practice including directive art and play therapy and non-directive (child-centred) play therapy. The training is designed for counselling clinicians working with any number of client issues and needs, including issues associated with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, addictive behaviour, inter-personal relationships, challenging behaviour, grief and loss. The art and play approaches and models of practice used can be applied to a variety of client groups including children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
The Academy's mission is to be the leader in the provision of high quality training and supervision in uses of art and play in a clinical context.
ABOUT ROSA
Rosa is the founder and Director of the Academy of Art & Play Therapy. She is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA), a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Qualified Trainer and Assessor in the Vocational Education Training (VET) sector. Rosa is also an authorised supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA).
Rosa has been providing training in art and play therapy to clinicians across Australia for over 12 years. Rosa also provides professional supervision to clinicians from over 50 different government and non-government agencies including Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Child Protection Counselling services (aka PANOC), Adult Mental Health, Community Health, Drug & Alcohol services, Women's Health Centres, Domestic Violence services, Department of Community Services, Brighter Futures services, Department of Education, Aboriginal Out-of Home Care services, Child & Adult Disability services (including Mature Carers programs), Transcultural Mental Health, Anglicare, the Benevolent Society, Barnardos, Burnside, Centacare.
In addition to her qualifications and training in psychology, art and play therapy and adult education, Rosa also draws from her 16 years experience working with a number of client groups. She has previously held positions as a psychologist in a variety of settings including out-of-home care, alternate education, child protection, occupational rehabilitation, immigration detention, juvenile justice and private practice. Rosa has also worked as a Psychiatric Disabilities Consultant for NSW TAFE and has taught child protection and early childhood development modules for Child Studies Departments in the VET sector.
